My fascination for Superman started when I was a kid who watched the movies that starred Christopher Reeve. Being exposed to the character at a young age made me a fan. I remember watching Lois and Clark starring Dean Cain and Terry Hatcher because I was such a fan. Goes without saying that I watched Smallville and the Brandon Routh version of Superman too.
When I heard that Henry Cavill was going to be the new Superman, I was a bit skeptical. For one thing, he's British and Superman is from the US. Another is that I've only seen him in period-themed things like The Count of Monte Cristo, Stardust and The Tudors so I wasn't sure how he would fit. After watching the trailer for the film, I think I'm going to give him the benefit of the doubt. It seems that this version will make Superman more realistic and less comic book(ish).
Apart from the new suit, I think this version is less glossed-over and idealistic. From the trailer I think this Superman is more three dimensional. More of a person/human. A little less than perfect version than what we're used to but still has the ideals that we have come to love about him. I hope I'm right because that would be a good thing.
Does anyone know when in 2013 this will be coming out? I'm excited!
