Hope This Works

I've been toying around with the idea of becoming a freelancer these past few months. It's no secret that I haven't been happy with my job for sometime and while I have looked into alternative employment, the prospect of working as a freelancer online has become an attractive idea for me.

One of the sites I've signed up for is ODesk. I haven't gotten any work from that yet but I have had a couple of interviews here and there. Things haven't worked out yet but I'm hoping that it will soon.  Sometimes I wonder if my resume makes it challenging for people to hire me considering I'm starting it off with a low asking price per hour.  Should I downplay my work?  Does having an existing 8-5 make things bad for me?  If anyone has any tips when it comes to ODesk-ing, please don't hesitate to leave me a comment at the end of this post.

There were other sites that I've tried but I haven't had any news from one and there was another who told me that my writing was not "up to par."  Oddly enough I was informed about this via email with grammatical errors.  Weird.

I don't know how this will all end up but as I always say, it doesn't hurt to try.  Better to try than to regret not trying down the road.  I'll just have to put myself out there and see how it goes from here.

Wish me luck!
