The pandemic has brought about many changes for a lot of people. For me, one of the changes that happened in the past year is the fact that I hardly ever wear makeup anymore. It has gotten to the point where I feel like I do not remember how to put it on.
The fact that I wear a mask and a face shield whenever I’m out made me feel like the less I put on my face, the better. I know a lot of other people still wear makeup, but I haven’t felt like doing so underneath all the layers of protection.
Still, there are days when I need to put on makeup. I have video meetings sometimes and, if I am home for them, I am usually mask-free. That means putting on makeup so that I do not look pale or look like I am just lounging at home.
Because of the need to put on makeup again, I decided that I needed some help. Of course, I went back to the one person who I knew could help, Wayne Goss.
It has been a while since I have visited his channel because I haven’t had the need for makeup since the pandemic started. It was nice to see that he is still active and giving makeup tips and tricks even through this pandemic. It was also good to see that some of his tips are updated from his previous ones. I love that he is constantly improving his technique and at the same time sharing it with people like me who would be clueless without the guidance of people like him.
There are several new vlogs that I found to be helpful, like his tips on how to do your eyebrows, using concealer as foundation, his five-minute eye lift, and his undetectable makeup tutorial. There are a lot of other videos on his channel, but these are the ones that I found to be the most helpful for me at the moment.
The thing that I like about watching his videos is that he gives tips in a way that makes you feel like you’re talking to a friend. He does not overcomplicate things when he makes his videos and he calls it like it is when it comes to techniques that he does not agree with, which is very helpful.
The vlogs that Wayne Goss posts are not always about makeup tutorials or product reviews. Sometimes he shares things about body image issues, his thoughts on Instagram makeup and filters, ageism and yes, he even shares about the pandemic via his video on getting the vaccine.
Back in the pre-pandemic days I only wore light makeup and these days I have only used makeup once or twice since the pandemic started, but watching the videos by Wayne Goss is inspiring me to try his tips even if I have no reason to be wearing makeup at all. I want to see which ones would work for me to know which ones I can use in the future.
Given that makeup expires and I have a lot that are just sitting on my dresser gathering dust, it might be best to experiment a little with Wayne Goss and see if I can give myself a new look (and make sure that my makeup does not go to waste).
