Bioten Skincare Products: My Honest Review

On one of the rare occasions that I was at the mall, I decided to look for the skincare brand that I have been using. I was about to use up what I had at home and decided it was time for a new set. The salesperson at Watson’s, however, had other ideas. She managed to convince me to try something new and buy skin care products from a different brand, which she assured me would be perfect for my skin. I wasn’t sure if I wanted to try something new but since the brand that I was going for didn’t have the exact items I wanted, I gave in and bought a toner, day and night cream, and serum from Bioten.

Skincare wasn’t something that I worried about when I was younger. In high school, I remember my parents often took me to my aunt, who was a dermatologist who helped take care of my skin, but it wasn’t something that I cared about until after I graduated from college. Since then, I have made it a point to take care of my skin because I know I’m not going to be young forever. I’ve been loyal to certain brands for years, switching one brand for another every now and then but limiting myself to those trusted names because they’ve been good for my skin. Bioten is new to me, so I went online to do my research on it.

Bioten Cosmetics is a French company, and it has a facial skincare line and a line of body care products. According to their promotional materials, their products are made from 100% natural ingredients, and they are committed to doing their part for the environment by reducing their carbon footprint in their factory and in their packaging.

There is a wide range of products and variants to choose from in the Bioten line but the ones I got, particularly the day and night cream and their serum, are part of the Multi-Collagen, Anti-Wrinkle line. The toner I bought was the Skin Moisture Tonic Lotion. Those items knocked out around 3K from my wallet (give or take) and I was about to back out of the purchase, but the salesperson assured me that it would last me around three months so I decided to take her word on it.

Did it last three months? Not all of it. The serum I ran out of right away (maybe in a month). I wanted to make it last longer by using very little of it per application, but it did not spread as easily on my skin as the previous brand I used so this was probably not the best value-for-money purchase for me. I did not see or feel any difference whether or not I used the serum. The day and night creams were another story.

The day and night creams were easy to apply, and I did not need much to put them on my face. For this reason, the product lasted more than the three months that the salesperson said it would. Very worth the money, given that I felt the difference on my skin after using it for a few weeks. Someone commented on how soft my skin felt when she accidentally brushed her fingers on my face as she helped me with the face mask that got tangled in my earring. She said my skin felt “rich, like a celebrity.” I took that as a compliment – and proof that the product worked for me.

The toner did not last three months but lasted more than one. And it is something that I would buy again. I’ve tried other toners in the past and they either have this sting to them, had a strong smell, or ended up drying my skin. But with this toner, my skin felt fresh and clean after every use. It did not have a strong scent to it either. I recently ran out of this toner and tried something else, but I've discovered that I'm no longer satisfied with using anything other than the one from Bioten.

The Bioten line is something that I think I would buy again in the future. I might include it in the roster of products I switch up regularly as part of my skincare regimen. I’d probably skip the serum though, but everything else is worth it.
